The University of Electro-Communications is launching a sponsored course titled "Copyright Business in the AI Era."

As part of the "MUSIC WAY PROJECT," a collaborative project promoted by the Culture and Entertainment Industry Promotion Association (CEIPA) and TOYOYA GROUP, a sponsored lecture series titled "Copyright Business in the AI Era" will be launched at the National University Corporation University of Electro-Communications, in collaboration with the Music Publishers Association of Japan (MPA), starting October 1, 2026 (Thursday).
In recent years, personal computers, smartphones, and mobile devices have made it possible to access and disseminate a wide variety of content. Furthermore, artificial intelligence (AI) is permeating every aspect of the economy, society, and daily life, and traditional business models themselves are changing. In the entertainment business of this era, knowledge of not only the content itself, but also the surrounding technologies and copyright is essential. In this course, we will invite prominent lecturers from various fields who are active on the front lines of this industry as guest speakers to learn about the basics of copyright and how to deal with it in practice.
This course is for students of all years (1st to 4th year) in the Faculty of Information Science and Engineering. It will feature guest lecturers active in various fields, who will teach in a relay format, covering specific business aspects of the entertainment industry, such as music, live performances, anime, and games, as well as the legal systems (intellectual property rights) that support them.
The University of Electro-Communications aims to create a scientific and technological field called "Integrated Communication Science" that analyzes the complex interactions between people, things, society, and nature, and solves various challenges facing society today. Through this course, by integrating the AI education we have been practicing with the current state of intellectual property-related businesses in the industrial world, we aim to increase students' interest in the entertainment business and cultivate unique and outstanding individuals who have a deeper understanding of intellectual property and copyright systems.
